This discussion page is for a person who may have a claim to Citizenship through a process other than the standard Citizenship application. For example, a person who may have a claim for Citizenship through her Canadian parent, or some other legal right to Citizenship.
On April 17, 2009, the rules changed for persons born outside Canada to a Canadian parent. The rules changed again in 2015.
If you are not sure if you or your minor child are citizens, you can check by:
- using the “Am I Canadian?” Calculator
- applying for a citizenship certificate (send in an actual application for a citizenship certificate)
